Loughborough Students Lifesaving Club is a friendly and active club with both Performance and Development squads to cater for all abilities from complete beginners up to national and even international levels. We have a very strong and varied training programme, with sessions available almost daily incorporating first aid skills and speeds in the pool, for which we are well known. However, this doesn’t stop us from having a busy social calendar throughout the year, which really helps us to gel as a club and make lifelong friends.
Our success in the sport has been evident in recent years, and we are proud to have won the BULSCA Championships for 6 years in a row, as well as multiple A and B League wins. We have many members competing on the national stage, with huge club representation at RLSS National Speeds every year. There are also members who have competed and succeeded recently in the Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving, taking a huge win for Team England on home turf. This may seem daunting, but we are very welcoming of those new to the sport, with even complete beginners going on to compete at these levels during their time at the club.
Some of our main achievements in recent years include:
30 medals and 3 new British records from LSLC members at Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving
BULSCA Championships winners for the last 6 years
31 members competing at National level at RLSS Speeds, taking home 23 medals in total
1st in A League and 1st in B League last season
30 University records currently held!
‘Welfare Club of the Year’ at Loughborough Universities Athletic Union awards 2019
2 Loughborough Lifesaving Alumni competing at the World Lifesaving Championship (winning golds and breaking records!)
